I never compared the DAC V That is a big factor, to me. In my view the old Naim DAC is a great value for money if you can use it bare. If you think that you need a PS to make it work in your system, I would perhaps look elsewhere.
But it seems unlikely that Naim will come out with an nDAC successor. Sounds ok but not up to the level of the rest of my inputs. Simple streaming setup Streaming Audio. I recently picked up a starter hard drive of high res music. Finally I have an Eero Mesh Wireless setup that is pretty fast. I am also advised that it would play through the first generation MuSo.
I would like to get this going this weekend. Does this sound like a possible task? Any tips or pitfalls? Many inexpensive NAS drives use Twonky, but others use proprietary servers.
What you are looking for will probably be described as a DLNA server. My Halide DAC died, and it was due for an upgrade.
I have a hard time demoing product and need to trust the forum or the dealer. A new DAC may be easier. All of these sources have strengths in my system. I admit I am generally pleased with nearly everything I have hooked up, exceptions being Sonos, and Oppo BDP, which were comparatively unengaging.
It was recommended by the Linn dealer when he bought the streamer, seems it is was a Linn favourite. I have a line on a UnitiQute2b which I may try to repurpose as a streamer, ie line out into the Can this work via line out as a streamer? That would make it complete. A Unitiqute would work, but remember that it has a pre out, not a line out, so you are going through two preamps, one of which might just be a little bit better than the other!
Otherwise the Mac will up or down sample to whatever is set in the Midi preferences, at which point the output is no longer bit perfect. I don't know about Vox but there are several add-ons available for iTunes which automatically adjust the output to match the track being played, which is a nice feature.

You start play with the Audirvana app then control in on StreamMagic. MikeO Have you read thru this topic? It works good with some, half way with others no gapless playback in my case and not at all with very well known quality kit. I am confused , that link shows an alarming number of issues where UPnP fails. Are you trying to praise Audirvana for its implementation or criticize them?
AS uses UPnP as its network protocol , the fact that this has so many issues is in itself worrying. I suspect the wideness of interpretation of the spec is the starting point of that. This experience has been good, I cannot recall ever having playback issues with JRiver Certainly not of the type I encountered with AS. Do I need lessons? I do not use my server PC as a navigation aid simply as a Server. As the thread starter, I wanted to thank all of you for your input.
